Dream Team
I'm selectively lazy, putting in the work but when it comes to the things I really don't want to do... procrastination is a motherfucker. Take these intros for instance. I've been doing this for awhile (the gig, I mean) and when I was writing these every month I always told myself- I'm not going to put this off until the last minute, it's not going to be the last thing I do. But it always is. You should see some of them that didn't make it. Oy vey! Everything from 'I'm having this problem with my dog and I think I might lose my mind and kill him' to 'It's pretty outside'. Finally I put a post-it note on my computer that said “It's not about you, stupid!”
I feel like we have our very own “dream team” here at Red Fez. Dedicated, inspired and gifted. Hella gifted. Just take a look at the intros for the last nine months. You'll see what I mean. I spent my inspiration, gusto, time and attention on a million other things. They are the reason I could.
Even though we go through staff changes occasionally, people come and go, on to other things...totally unrelated to my mood swings, I swear- I'm always thankful for the time we've had. (you'll have to excuse me- Whitney Houston is flashing on the screen in the background) I-eee-I will always lu-o-ve yooo. Even when you're smoking crack and acting a fool. (too soon?) What do you want from a generation stuck between “Just Do It!” and “Here We Are Now, Entertain Us”?
I want to thank J.A. Tyler, Claudia Lamar, Ani Smith, Robert Kloss and Karl Koweski. I enjoyed our time together in the Fezzery and appreciate all the hard work that you put in. I wish you only the best in your new projects.
I hope everyone will join me in welcoming Lindsey Thomas and Judy Brekke to the poetry staff, Bruno Souto and Marvic Adecer to the comics/graphics section and Nescher Pyscher to reviews. Please send them lots of good work. They're ready and willing.
