PART I:

About Leopold McGinnis!

I have been writing for over 10 years and have had work published in several online and offline poetry & prose journals. Game Quest is my first book, although I previously published a novella: The Red Fez.

Why did I write this book? I was a huge fan of 3D Adventure games when I was young and wanted to work for Sierra when I grew up. But seeing as how nobody was going to hire me when I was that young I turned to writing as a creative outlet. I'm still not working for a gaming company, but I'm still writing. In some ways, this book is an homage to the games and game-creators who first inspired me.

In 2002, around the same time I was writing this novel, I started www.redfez.net, an online database of writing from underground and independent writers, to promote the type of work that is all too often ignored by the corporate bookmakers and even, unfortunately, small presses.

In the past five years I have lived in Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Tokyo, Manila, Ottawa and Toronto for no sane or profound reason. I'll probably be moving to Edmonton soon. I am a member of the Underground Literary Alliance.

If you're interested in reading more by me, or learning a bit more about me, I invite you to visit www.leopoldmcginnis.com, which has a whole schwackload of fun stuff to read. Try Searched or The Chocolate Milk Challenge, or peruse my Stuff! section for parodies & flash animations.

Although Game Quest is inspired by real characters, events and institutions in the computer gaming industry, the characters, events and institutions as they appear in the novel are fictional and not intended to represent those entities as they appear in real life. Any similarities to persons living or dead are coincidental and unintentional.
