REJECTED! by Quarterly West!

Piece Rejected: The Cul-de-sac at Crescentway Dr.
Date of Rejection: October 18th, 2002

Boy, do they offer rejection letter writing workshops somewhere? These guys look strikingly similar to the TriQuarterly rejection letter! The foremost and largest part of their rejection letter is their logo. Again, they offer an apology with no comments and limit the size of their rejection to a third of the page. Actually, what I think these guys did at the workshop was not pay attention and when it came time to produce a sample letter they leaned wayyy over and copied off of TriQuarterly...even though TriQuarterly was all hunching over trying to hide it and saying 'make your own letter, copyright infringer!' Look, Quarterly West even copied part of the name from TriQuarterly! Rejection letter plaigerists!! I didn't want to publish in their nefarious intellectually criminal magazine anyway.

I guess Quarterly West was too cheap to spring for coloured paper, though. And really, when you don't spring for the best in your rejection letter, you're really only hurting yourself. I really only want to receive rejection letters from TriQuarterly now. I don't think I'll apply for any more from Quarterly west.

My Rebuttal:Well it's pretty obvious now why my piece was rejected. It was because it was too original...and not plaigerized. I have to admit, though, that they showed some originality here with the added feature of printing, the second largest thing on the page, what their magazine has to offer! Thank you so much. After rejecting me, I'll be sure to find this information very helpful! Maybe I'll subscribe to your magazine! They missed their most popular service, though. They should put 'Rejection up there.'
