Piece Rejected: Rex Redidified
Date of Rejection: Summer, 2002
Ever heard of Theatre Sports? It's like theatre improve, except it has points and teams of actors. It's hilarious and famous the world over! AND it was invented in my hometown by the Loose Moose Theatre company. Don't believe me? Check it out. Apparently they are very litigious about other people using the Theatre Sports name illegitimately. Kind of funny, considering Loose Moose is a very small and very unpretentious operation. Other theatre companies can license the name, but most of them generally come up with their own cheap knockoffs like: Theatre Battle! or Improv Sports! or Sissy Theatre Nerd Warz!
Anyway, Loose Moose does real plays from time to time. I queried them and sent in some excerpts from my play. Denis Cahill sent this back. Although they didn't say why they rejected it, I have a feeling it was due to the number of actors required for this piece when their staff of actors is like, 6, or something tiny. 'Cause, I mean, they wouldn't reject it because it's not funny, right? Loose Moose knows funny...and this is funny...right?
My Rebuttal: Denis Cahill actually responded to my questions! Although he chickened out on suggesting another company that I could submit my play to, I have to give the man credit for personally taking the time to reject me! Denis Cahill, I salute you!
