REJECTED!

Piece Rejected: Snow Angel
Date of Rejection: January 11th, 2003

Folks, what you are looking at here is the perfect specimen of a rejection letter. It has all the proper elements! They have an apology for not being able to accept your work while not bothering to give any useful comments. They pretend to be sorry they cannot publish your submission while acting like good guys and wishing you luck elsewhere. They use only a third of a piece of paper so they can save on rejections and mailing! They do not fail, either, to have their logo as the biggest part of the page. Finally, this piece is nice and nameless without any from: or to: marks. They even have their address, in case you'd like, for some perverse reason, to contact them again. Maybe to solicit another, flawlessly crafted rejection!

Look at it. Admire the crisp, lack of imperfection. If you listen closely, you can hear humming, the sound of distant far off angels. I think we are all humbled by the simple beauty of this rejection.

My Rebuttal: Unfortunately, along with perfect comes unspectacular. There is nothing in this letter that makes it stand out. In fact, the best thing I could come up with to write about this letter was how standard it was! (Except the nice yellow paper, of course!) Still, they did cover all their bases quite well. I give it a 7.
