REJECTED!

Piece Rejected: The Chocolate Milk Challenge
Date of Rejection: November 15th, 2002

Even publications from my home province reject me! Ohhhh, and I was so close to being a 'world-class author'...whatever that means. But the thing that gets me, though, is that Writer's Block (ironic title, really, when they stop me from being published...) felt it would be easier to just pretend that they were out of business instead of deliver the sad news that they had no taste. It's like when you're walking up the pathway of some house on Halloween and suddenly all the lights go out... hmmmmm.

Well, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they actually did go out of business. Probably because they passed up chances to publish fine literature like the Chocolate Milk Challenge. If only they'd waited a little longer, they could have published my piece and the ensuing soaring demand for their publication would have made them millionaires!! But fate conspired against them. I guess I'll have to find some other lucky bastard to publish this piece...

My Rebuttal: The vast majority of these publications are run by passionate people who, probably, don't make much money for the time and effort they put into their magazines. Still, these publications are incredibly curt when rejecting your work. You get maybe four words response, max. Of course, when it comes to talking about themselves when their publication shuts down they write chronicles about their personal lives at you. Ha! I reject your rejection letter due to self-interested prose and lame jokes (centerfolds? come on...) Ahhh, that makes me feel better.
