Ten years

In the past ten years
I have fallen in love
Watched the twin towers fall
Invented a religion devoted to coffee
Stopped smoking cigarettes
Invented another religion devoted to poetry
Combined the two religions and burned tea bags in the backyard at midnight
Got married to the best woman in the world
Went to college
Shined my shoes twice
Worked in the glass industry
Been in the unemployment line
Worked in the automotive industry
Mispronounced every name east and west of the Euphrates
Tended bar at the Valentine theatre  
Been plowed into by a kid in a big truck after he ran a red light
Bought our first home
Attended five funerals and three weddings
Cut up two credit cards (who needs them)
Gone through three cell phones
Two computers
8 notebooks (approximately)
Been called chewy, the chewster, mighty matt, and mattsky
And booba and been told it meant little brother
Had my car broken into and lost my great grandfathers hammer, first cell phone, and 35 cd’s
The war rages on and I am ready for a vacation
Disney World here I come
