Christmas Lights in June

by Jennifer McCarthy

strings of light
once bright with colour
now the dull yellow of a smoker's grin
burnt out bulbs
like missing teeth
scowl across the eavestroughs

About Jennifer McCarthy

Jennifer has lived all her life in Ottawa, Ontario. Despite this, she has turned out to be a reasonably creative person with a half-decent sense of humour. She started writing sometime in kindergarten, but only recently decided to begin the arduous struggle for publication.
