To a girl, distraught, having just lost her first love

by Rob Taylor

You fucked a lot
that was your first mistake
soft slow sex
you could have handled
but fucking breaks
so many things apart.

You were always doing it
and we knew it would be trouble
but how do you say
'hey girl, you fuck too much'
without sounding jealous?

And this ain't some speech
about boys being boys and
only wanting one thing 'cause
girls are girls and only
want that one thing, too

and hell if I know what
it is, but I've heard it's
small, grey and warm
like a field mouse.

You move,
     you make a sound,
          and it's gone.
