I wanted to tell you about the jeweled orbs
the juice
the sticky nectarine feast
the sangria sky
I wanted to sing you a song
of cold deep plunge
swimming in the spring stars
the shivering
the floating like flying
I wanted to bring you
a pink and purple and yellow bouquet
show you my parade
give you my surplus
but I was stuck in traffic
with news of war and injustice
the usual degradations
so I come to you reduced
a sad shadow
requesting a cold beer
and the darkest corner
