by Jeffery Van den engh

this night is a good start. with the leaves
all letting go. to hell with being alone.
i can shout it to the wound up dark.
i do not fear the winter this time around.
i have stood up to the back fence
of a heart hell bent on loneliness.
i am ready for the first snowfall.
let it rise up at my window.
let it knock my door to splinter.
