"Backstage" at the "girlie" show at the Vermont state fair, Rutland. Jack Delano, 1941.As the head poetry editor for Red Fez, I can only speak for the poetry. I have no doubt that the fiction department is in good hands in the hands of Mr. Simonelli, whom I met once at a reading in Philadelphia, and he probably thinks I'm a total asshole because I was purposely being a total asshole at the time.
I know Tim Murray is calling for an investigation into Mr. Simonelli, but I'm sure this will blow over as every scandal does.
The thing I love about editing for Red Fez is you never know what you're gonna get poetry wise. We could be loaded with small press all stars or not, but I always know we're gonna get some fine work. Last issue we were loaded up with small press all stars. This issue we've got a couple, but regardless we've still got some fine work in. Personally I'd rather expose good poetry by people that I've never heard of. That's just me.
It's been over six months since I took over the head editing position at Red Fez, and I am happy as can be. I don't think there could have been a better fit for me. Enjoy the new Red Fez. Just know a lot of work goes into it every month and we do it for you.
