My
favorite memory
of PBR

is at
the Pine Cove
in
Midtown, Sacramento

a cop bar

everyone
seemed to know
the crew cut guys
on the stools
were police

and why
we punk kids
still went there

speaks
to a special
type of
peace on Earth

we listened
to Buddy Holly
on the old juke

drank
Pabst Blue Ribbon
drafts
for $1.00 a pint

and ate popcorn
out of the old-timey
machine
that probably
once
served the streets

we
dropped quarters
and played
the best the box
had to offer

we were
Ramones, Cramps
and Dickies fans

but
you can’t argue
with
Chuck Berry

we danced
what we thought
was the Charleston
to Ritchie Valens

and struck out
with girls
in tight sweaters.
